2.1 Device token

When you enable push notifications, we receive an APNs or FCM token from your device operating system. This is a random identifier that enables notification delivery โ€” it does not identify you by name or contact details.

2.2 Notification and resort preferences

We store your resort selections, snowfall threshold, unit preferences, and alert schedule in our backend, linked only to your anonymized device token.

2.3 Firebase Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the App. Firebase automatically collects: device model and OS version, app version, general country or region (not precise location), session duration and frequency, screen views and feature engagement events, and first-launch and last-use timestamps. This data is associated with a Firebase installation ID โ€” a randomly generated identifier, not your name or email. See Section 4 for opt-out options.

2.4 Firebase Crashlytics

When a crash occurs, Firebase Crashlytics collects information about the crash, device state at the time, and a Crashlytics installation UUID. This data helps us fix bugs and is not linked to your identity.

2.5 Server request logs

Our backend automatically logs standard server data including IP addresses, request timestamps, API endpoints accessed, HTTP response codes, and device/platform identifiers. These logs are used for security monitoring and debugging. IP addresses may reveal your approximate city or region.

2.6 In-app purchase records

If you make an in-app purchase, Apple or Google processes your payment and provides us a purchase receipt or transaction token to verify your premium entitlement. We do not receive your payment card details or billing address. See Section 6 for full details.

2.7 Support communications

If you contact us, we retain your message and contact details solely to respond and maintain a record of correspondence. We do not use this information for marketing.

3. How We Use Your Data

Deliver notifications. Your device token and preferences are used solely to send you the snow alerts you have configured.

Verify premium access. Purchase receipts are used to unlock premium features and restore purchases across devices.

Maintain and improve the App. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data helps us fix bugs and understand which features are useful.

Infrastructure security. Server logs help us detect abuse, unauthorized access, and errors in our backend systems.

Respond to you. Support messages allow us to respond to your questions and feedback.

Legal compliance. We may retain data as required by applicable law or to enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising, user profiling, or any purpose not described in this policy.

4. Third-Party Services & Analytics

The App integrates the following services. Google services operate under Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

4.1 Firebase Analytics

Firebase Analytics collects usage data as described in Section 2.3. Google may use aggregated, de-identified analytics data to improve their services. We do not share personally identifiable information with Google through Firebase Analytics and do not use it for advertising.

To opt out on iOS: Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Analytics & Improvements โ†’ disable "Share iPhone Analytics." On Android: Settings โ†’ Google โ†’ Ads โ†’ Opt out of Ads Personalization.

4.2 Firebase Crashlytics

Crash reports are sent to Google's servers for processing. You may be able to disable crash reporting via an in-app setting if one is offered. Disabling crash reporting does not affect core App functionality.

4.3 Google Cloud Run

Our backend API runs on Google Cloud Run in North America. Request data processed by our API passes through Google's infrastructure and is subject to Google Cloud's data processing terms.

4.4 Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)

Push notifications on iOS are delivered through Apple's APNs infrastructure, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

4.5 Snow data providers

We retrieve weather and forecast data from Open-Meteo and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), and resort condition data from publicly available resort websites. The App attributes each resort with a direct link to the original source. These are one-way data feeds โ€” we do not send any user data to these providers.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 Infrastructure providers

We share data with providers that help us operate the App, including Google (Firebase, Cloud Run) and Apple (APNs). These providers process data only as necessary to deliver the service and are contractually bound to handle it appropriately.

5.2 Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or valid legal process, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of any person.

5.3 Business transfers

If Lesery Labs Inc. or its assets are acquired or transferred, your data may transfer to the successor entity, who will be required to honor this Privacy Policy or provide you adequate notice and choice.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

6. In-App Purchases

Powder Alert offers a free tier with access to a limited selection of resorts and features. Optional in-app purchases unlock additional resorts and premium data.

6.1 Payment processing

All payments are processed exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Lesery Labs Inc. does not receive, store, or process your payment card number, billing address, or any other payment credentials. Financial transactions are governed by Apple's or Google's terms of service and privacy policies.

6.2 Purchase verification

When you make a purchase, Apple or Google provides us a receipt or validation token. We store this token, linked to your anonymized device token, to verify your entitlement to premium features and to support purchase restoration. We do not link purchase records to your real name or email address.

6.3 Refunds

All refund requests must be directed to Apple or Google. Lesery Labs Inc. does not independently process refunds. Refund eligibility is governed by Apple's and Google's respective refund policies.

7. Advertising

Powder Alert does not currently display any advertisements and does not use advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA or Google's GAID).

If we introduce advertising in a future version of the App, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so, provide notice within the App, comply with all applicable platform requirements and privacy laws, and obtain any required user consent. We will never introduce advertising without updating this policy first.

8. Data Storage and Retention

8.1 Where data is stored

Our backend runs in Canada and the United States via Google Cloud. Firebase data is processed by Google on servers that may be located globally. By using the App, you consent to this cross-border data transfer and processing.

8.2 Retention periods

Device tokens and preferences are retained while you have notifications enabled. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is typically retained for up to 13 months. Server request logs, including IP addresses, are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Purchase verification records are retained as long as necessary to support your account status and applicable legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained for a reasonable period to manage ongoing issues.

8.3 Deletion requests

To request deletion of data linked to your device token, delete the App and email support@lesery.com. We will process requests within a reasonable timeframe subject to legal retention obligations. Data held by Apple, Google, or other third parties must be addressed directly with those providers.

9. Security

We implement encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), least-privilege access controls on all infrastructure, and monitoring for unauthorized access. No system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of suspected unauthorized access, notify us immediately at support@lesery.com.

10. Your Rights and Choices

10.1 Notification control

Disable push notifications at any time through iOS or Android system settings or via the in-app toggle.

10.2 Analytics opt-out

On iOS: Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Analytics & Improvements โ†’ disable "Share iPhone Analytics." On Android: Settings โ†’ Google โ†’ Ads โ†’ Opt out of Ads Personalization. If the App offers an in-app crash reporting toggle, you may also use it to opt out of Crashlytics.

10.3 Access, correction, and deletion

Email support@lesery.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of data we hold linked to your device token. We will respond within 30 days.

10.4 Server log data

Because server logs are tied to IP addresses rather than named accounts, we cannot reliably isolate all log entries for a specific individual. We will make reasonable efforts to honor deletion requests subject to security and legal retention needs.

11. Region-Specific Rights

12. Children's Privacy

Powder Alert is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If we become aware of such data being collected inadvertently, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at support@lesery.com if you believe this has occurred.

13. Third-Party Links and Content

The App may link to resort websites, webcam feeds, or other external sources we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external site you visit through the App.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, the App, or applicable law.
